17th Biennial Conference ERB 2018
Euromediterranean Network of Experimental and Representative Basins (ERB)
Darmstadt, Germany, 11-14 September 2018
The conference deals with innovative monitoring techniques and modelling approaches for analysing hydrological processes in small basins.
Small basins are highly suitable for studying hydrological processes. They serve as outdoor laboratories covering the complexity of combined physical, chemical and biological processes. Long-term and high quality measurements in these basins help analysing environmental changes, with new measurement and sensing techniques supporting further hydrological understanding.
Modelling approaches allow depicting and understanding hydrological processes. Hydrological models need sufficient data with high spatial and temporal resolution, while allowing to predict processes not easily measurable, and calculate the impact of future scenarios. Small research basins provide the data required for model development and testing. Knowledge gained in such basins can be used for decision-making with respect to managing water resources systems.
